Storytelling Portraits

This is  a longer session built around who you are and what you want remembered. Whether your goal is to capture closing a chapter as a senior, curate epic photos for your dating profile, get professional natural headshots for your Linkedin, or celebrate a new chapter with those you love, I start with a conversation so what we make looks and feels like you. We'll plan a shoot together to set you up for a successful, fun, and memorable shoot.

Locations

Ute Valley Park

Ute valley park is central to El Paso County and has beautiful rock formations, wooded areas, meadows, and stunning trails. There are several parking areas and options to capture specific backdrops.

North Cheyenne Cañon

North Cheyenne Cañon has a stream, waterfalls, and provides red rock lined walking paths, trees, and and stone bridges.

Palmer Park

Palmer Park is for those who want to incorporate the mountain backdrops of the rockies from El Paso County along with shrub cover. Walking may be required for the best views!

Red Rocks Park

Red Rocks Park located in Morrison, CO offers many trails often cherished for city views and the classic Red Rocks that Denver is famous for. Local travel fee may apply.

Garden of the Gods

Garden of The God's is a cherished location in Colorado Springs offering breathtaking rock formations that are otherwordly.

Dawson's Butte

Located in central Douglas County this location offers meadows, tree'd and shaded areas, and natural landscapes year- round.

 

Mt. Falcon

Located in Jefferson County off of highway 285 this location offers gorgeous mountain views, and stunning sunsets. A Permit is required, please allow 1 month of advanced notice. Permit fee will apply.

Chatfield State Park

Located on the northwest side of Douglas County off of highway 470, this state park offers grassy, wooded, and waterside options. A permit is required, please allow 1 month of advanced notice. Permit fee will apply.

Castlewood Canyon State Park

Located off of highway 83 between black forest and Franktown, this state park is a hidden gem with distant mountain views and gorgeous natural backdrops. A permit is required, please allow 1 month of advanced notice. Permit fee will apply.

South Platte Park

Located behind the Aspen Grove Shopping Center off of Santa-Fe (Highway 85), the South Platte Park and Carson Nature Center offers meadows, riverside moments, and cottonwood tree shades conveniently located between Littleton and Highlands Ranch. A permit is required, please allow 1 month of advanced notice. Permit fee will apply.

Style Guide

 

Seniors

 

We'll shoot in an area that genuinely reflects your interests- downtown, a horse stable, a dance studio, wherever has made your heart sing- please allow lead time to secure proper permissions and permitting where applicable.

  • Bring 2-3 outfits that reflect your personality (game day gear, your favorite band tee, that jacket you live in)
  • Wear things that layer well for golden hour light fades fast, so we move quickly between looks and temperatures can change rapidly
  • Bring a prop or two tied to what you love: an instrument, a letterman jacket, sports gear, your car
  • Solid colors and light layers photograph best against Colorado Springs' natural backdrops
  • Avoid busy patterns, logos, or graphic tees that compete with the scenery
  • Don't stress about "posing" - but do practice smiling! The best shots usually happen in between poses anyway.

 

 

Families

 

  • Coordinate outfits in a shared color palette rather than matching exactly
  • Layer textures and tones (denim, cream, sage, rust) for a natural, cohesive look
  • Bring a blanket, favorite toy, or small activity for little ones to keep them engaged between shots- just be sure you're okay with it showing up in your photos
  • Dress kids in something they can move, run, and be silly in
  • Avoid all-white or all-black head-to-toe outfits, they can wash out or blend into shadows

 

 

Personal Branding

We'll shoot where you look and feel your best, whether this be at your business, your office space, or even out in nature we want this shoot to represent you.

  • Have a few outfit options that reflect your brand and industry (and your brand colors, if you have them)
  • We'll think through the shots you actually need together and discuss during your consultation call: posed headshots, you "in action," and candid working shots
  • Have props or tools of your trade if they tell your story (laptop, product, workspace items, things with your logo on them)
  • Solid, well-fitted clothing photographs cleaner than busy patterns or logos
  • We won't plan every pose- some of the best branding shots come from natural movement and conversation

 

Headshots
  • Wear solid colors that complement your skin tone; jewel tones and neutrals both photograph beautifully
  • Bring a backup top in case of wrinkles, static, or last-minute changes
  • Avoid busy patterns, bold logos, or noisy jewelry that pulls focus from your face
  • Come with hair and makeup done as you'd want to be seen professionally, natural and polished
  • Don't skip the small stuff: freshly ironed clothing and a good night's sleep go a long way

 

Dating Profile Photos

The goal here is to create clean, refined images that best represent you, this isn't an overly polished headshot but represents who you are so the person you match with gets to know you. We'll shoot in spots that make sense based on your interests and hobbies, so allow some time to plan together.

  • Bring a variety of outfits, from casual to a little dressed up
  • Include something that reflects a hobby or interest (hiking gear, your favorite coffee shop 'fit, date-night attire, a book)
  • Choose colors that make your eyes pop and feel true to your everyday style. (Ask me if you're unsure!)
  • We'll capture close-ups, full-body shots, and you doing something you love
  • Avoid heavy makeup or styling that looks different from how you show up day-to-day
  • Don't just bring your "going out" outfit, we want a range of photos, not one look repeated five ways

 

Pets

We'll choose a location together so we can capture your pet in their element.

  • Bring their favorite treats and a squeaky toy to grab attention and get those perked-up ears
  • Have a fresh brush-out before the session so their coat photographs at its best
  • Bring a favorite leash or bandana that reflects their personality, but skip anything overly bulky that hides their features
  • Come with some energy already burned off (a walk beforehand helps antsy pets settle in for calmer shots)
  • Avoid retractable leashes during the session, a standard leash gives us more control for safety and easy editing
  • Don't expect "sit and stay" the whole time, some of the best shots come from candid movement, play, and treats mid-air.
